Leave of Absence

A Leave of Absence Request form must be completed in advance of any absence. Each request will be looked at on its own merits although leave of absence in term time will only be considered in the most exceptional of circumstances.  This is enforced through government regulations.

The principles for defining exceptional are: rare, significant, unavoidable and short. Unavoidable – meaning an event that could not reasonably be scheduled at another time. Holidays in term times are not considered unavoidable.  Taking holidays in term time will affect your child’s education and parents are discouraged from withdrawing their child from school during term times.

Any period of leave taken without the agreement of the school, or in excess of that agreed, will be classed as unauthorised and may attract sanctions such as an Education Penalty Notice.
