‘Do the best that you can do, be the best that you can be!’

Curriculum

At Kingsway Primary School, our curriculum inspires pupils' thirst for knowledge and promotes a love of life-long learning in a creative, challenging and safe environment. We use a range of teaching styles to ensure children are engaged and confident to develop transferable skills for life. Our Curriculum is underpinned by the exciting opportunities provided beyond the classroom.  We firmly believe that in order for children to develop a love of learning this must be enhanced with an exciting and challenging curriculum outside of the classroom walls.

In line with the Government's recommendations, we do not move children's learning into the next year group as has been done in previous years. Instead, we teach them a broad and balanced curriculum that provides breadth and depth within each subject and provides children with the opportunity to work at a 'Mastery' level in each subject.

British Values

The social, moral, spiritual, cultural values will be strengthened as our curriculum enables the children to understand the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of the law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

Throughout school, you will see a variety of teaching and learning opportunities which enable our children to understand:

1. Democracy

How citizens can influence decision making through a democratic process

2. The rule of law

An appreciation that living under the rule of the law protects individual citizens.

3. Individual liberty

An understanding that bodies such as the police and the army can be held account by people, through the democratic organs of Government.

4. Mutual respect

An understanding that the freedom to hold other faiths and beliefs is protected in law, and an acceptance that other people having different faiths or beliefs to oneself (or having none) should not be the cause of prejudicial or discriminatory behaviour.

5. Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

An understanding of the problems of identifying and combating discrimination
